Carving Pumpkins

Sunday night we took time to carve pumpkins. We were really excited about this--plus, the pumpkin seeds are good after they are baked. :-) We brought the pumpkins inside and Mackenzie tried to lift them up--very heavy! We made hers look like elmo--she liked that. By the way, she now says Elmo. We are trying out lots of new words. Being the neat person that she is, doesn't like to get messy. We could NOT get her to stick her hands in the pumpkin. I did get some good pictures of her daddy carving the pumpkins. :-) Our little "helper".

"Can I help, Dada?"

Thanks, Daddy! You did a great job!

Painting Pumpkins!

There's always something fun to do at the library with little ones. So I signed Mackenzie up for a program today called Paint your Pumpkin. She had a lot of fun. Everytime she got paint on her hands, she had to have mommy wipe them off. As you can tell, she likes her hands to be clean (she doesn't mind them being in dirt, though, or playing with chalk). This was actually her first experience with paint--she did awesome! I was very proud of her work and the way she held her paintbrush.

Waiting patiently while mama (her favorite word now :-) ) is getting her paint.

Mackenzie's paint palette, before all the colors get mixed together.

An artist at work.

The finished product. Great job, Kenzie!
She waved bye-bye to her pumpkin as we left. We'll let it dry and then pick it up later. :-) Have a great weekend!

A Sneak Peek

Here's a sneak peek of Mackenzie's Halloween costume. Use the comment section to give some feedback as to what you think she will be. Good Luck!

The Pumpkin Patch

We visited the pumpkin patch over the weekend with Aunt Rachel, Uncle Greg, and cousins Olivia, Isabelle, Owen and Evangeline. It was a lot of fun and a beautiful fall day. We went through the kiddiepillar, ate some food, played on the playground, went on a hayride in search of the perfect pumpkins, and also rode ponies! Mackenzie had a lot of fun and stayed very busy!

"How do I get down from this haystack"?

Riding the pumpkin train.

A quick family shot. Mackenzie didn't want to sit still--she had been having fun playing in the hay.
"Look at this pumpkin I found!" "This is heavy!"

Ready to go down the fun slide on the playground.
Her first pony ride.
All in all, we had a great day. Mackenzie was done on the pony about halfway through the ride. The only activity I did not get pictures of was the kiddiepillar and I went in with her. It was so cute watching her try to pick up all the pumpkins. We have lots of fun activities coming up to blog about so be sure to check back! Have a great week!

Help! I'm Stuck and I can't get out!

I was busy getting ready this morning and heard Mackenzie getting upset. I went into our bedroom and found her stuck behind our bed. She normally climbs up the opposite end. I think she purposefully slid down not thinking how she would get out. She had to rescue her beloved bunny that stays in mommy and daddy's room during the day. To make a long story short, she finally wiggled her way out. Here are some pictures of her back behind the bed. Pretty cute. She certainly looks happy to be back there. I think she was proud of herself.

"Hmmm, how can I do this? Maybe I will just hang out for awhile".
Stay tuned for pumpkin patch pictures and the revealing of the Halloween costume.

Too tired to get into bed

Mackenzie likes to get out of bed and play for awhile after I put her down for nap. She does it at bed time every once in awhile too. Having a toddler bed makes it easy to do that. Well, it just so happens that today I went to check on her after hearing her play, and this is what I found. There was no room for her on the bed. It was all I could not to laugh while I moved everything off the bed and her onto the bed.
It was nice that she was sharing her bed with her friends. I wonder how long she would have stayed on her feet?

Enjoy!

It's not Christmas yet....or is it?

Mackenzie loves Santa (Ho Ho Ho) as she calls him. So she was excited to be wearing her new Ho Ho Ho pajamas to bed. It is going to be quite the fun Holiday season with her this year. The holidays will be here before we know it, but let's enjoy Halloween first. :-)

Mackenzie also likes Mitch Daniels--already a Republican at 20 months. If anyone has seen his recent commercial it is very musical. Miss Mackenzie likes the beat and every time the commercial comes on she stops what she is doing and claps her hands and dances. Check it out!

Purdue Football and the RV

Purdue played Penn State in Football this weekend. We lost, but still had a good time tailgating in Nancy's ( a family friend) RV. We played some cornhole, met some new people, rode the bus to the stadium, cheered for the team, brought Mackenzie back to the RV at halftime for a nap, ate some dinner, and then headed home after a long fun-filled day. Mackenzie had lots of fun experiences today. She even got to play at a close by park! She saw the Penn State mascot ( a lion) and said "I want Doggie"! Too cute!

"It's too early for pictures, Daddy!"

Playing cornhole before the game. Of course, we played after the game, too!

Little Miss Hollywood, ready to cheer on her Boilers!

On the bus heading to the stadium. This was a big deal for Mackenzie, as she loves to watch the school busses go by our house during the week.

Cheering with Daddy. It is hilarious watching her watch a football game. She gets so excited!

Watching with mommy. Boiler Up!
Eating some yummy dinner!
Daddy and Priss (one of Grandma's college roommates that went with us) blowing out their birthday candles. They have the same birthday (Oct. 5th) so mommy made brownies. Yum!
Kenzie and Grandma coming back from the park. She would take anyone to the park that would go with her and there were 6 adults.
All in all, it was a great day and we couldn't have had better weather, but we could have had a better outcome to the game! Maybe next time. Go Boilers! We still have that Old Gold and Black Spirit!

Pretty in Pink

Mackenzie and I went on a walk today. It was beautiful--a perfect fall day. Mackenzie looked so cute all in pink that I had to take some pictures. She is full of energy! It is always an adventure going on a walk with Mackenzie, as she is at the age where she is so curious about everything!

Running and ready to take a wrong turn into a newghbors yard.

Stopping to play in and explore the rocks.

Picking the last of the dandelions.

Hanging out with the fire hydrant.

These pictures are just a few of the places that Mackenzie likes to stop while on our walks. She just wants to go go go! It is such a great age!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the fall weather. We're RV-ing it up at the Purdue football game. Go Boilers! I'll post pics of that soon!
